i cannot beleive that Ilias loss that way specially to Defrievili who is one technique player. Attack with te guruma guy who’s favorite tech is sumigaeshi doesn’t sound right. He just loaded his body on his leg to make sumigaeshi easy to perom. feel bad for Ilias . He used to be one of my favorite player.

Anybody who think it’s wrong decision? I see the first attempt of kuchiki-daoshi, then the sumi-gaeshi, too late for me, and i believe that’s why Iliadis doesn’t try to twist in mid-air, he knows he’s won…naive for him anyway…

    I wait for replies…

x pitifighter66: please don’t submit things like that, it’s four lines of nonsense, mispelled too…

I have to disagree with you Davide..
True, Iliadis does start his attempt for kuchiki-daoshi, but he does not follow through in my opinion. He does not disturb Dafreville’s balance, and he gets countered because of it.

The only reason Dafreville goes on his back, is for the sumi-gaeshi.. Iliadis did not force him down in any way.

I think it was a difficult decision cause for me Dafreville was falling in the te guruma and he just did the only thing possible that was to try no control sumi gaeshi, but I think if Illiadis had twisted his body he would get the score.

After reading the webmaster’s comment, i watched the video again, i tend to agree with him, he’s actually not following through, it’s just an attempt, and it’s hard to reward him for it…thx, all hail the webmaster…

Eduardo says something interesting, but i don’t think that the Athens Olympic Champion would have been rewarded anyway, even if he had twisted to avoid the score. I say it’s a naive mistake, because with these close calls you have to try and avoid the score anyway!…

And, let’s face it, from a powerful judoka like Iliadis i always expect great throwing, big ippons, not these skermishing, and losing from such a poor technician like the French is embarrassing, considering the ippon in the first match against Grekov (former european champion) who’s on the contrary greatly skilled (left handed, great ashi-waza, fantastic uchi-mata)…

Hm…I think that Iliadis didn’t see it coming at all…but his atack was poorely executed..if it was an atack at all…Great job for the french..too bad that at the olympics the crows was not frnech…otherwise he would have got a bronze medal…My guess is that Iliadis should try other tehniques at well…he has the power and the experience to do that. I would like to see other videos from this tournament…any help guys? Thanks.
