ok.. the russian guy was horrible. He did not attack and once he did his technique was not there… interesting fight.. Ishi was very good and very much a good technique fighter.. the Oseikouime that he put on the ruskie at the end was really well executed.. he was a bit more smaller…

    good for him.

Tamerlan showed poor ne-waza. His movements while down on the mat showed absence of technical expertise. His hip cage, though not initially controled by Ishii, was like anchored to the mat. You cannot scape from osai komi without strong hip cage movements.

to me it looks that tmenov simply give up the match in the end. it’s start with lame attak in 5:32 and continue with poor ne-waza preformens and the way easily got pinned. usually tmenov have big throws and also good ne-waza/
tmenov like so many other great fighters not be in his best. i’m sure that in good day tmenov could took medal. I felt sorry for him because he deserve medal.

.temenov is classic example of Russian and European style he always tries to get the belt or try to throw using makekomi, its again proves classic judo and pure kodokan judo has the upper hand ,ishii shows that pure magnificent judo is the key for winning , temenov developed poor judo technique along the years , and at the Olympics he got the result , being beaten by a simple newaza hold……………….. well done ishii

If you have made to this level of competition for so many years perhaps you could say this – but if not then who do you think you are to suggest that Tmenov has developed poor technique – crazy perhaps??? Also, the lack of Japanese dominance in these and many other recent olympics suggests that the European style is good and other new waves coming through like the KOR and MGL styles are also good. Great performance by Ishii, but being beaten by a top form young athlete doesn’t take anything from Tmenov’s brilliance.

tmenov is a very good judoka ,able of fantastic throws against a lot of good fighters. He standsup and really try to do classic judo. Not shut.He as been finaliste at almost all the mondial and olympic shampionships for years .Big respect.Tmenov is a big judoka but he allways fall on the best fighter at one moment( susuki 2004,van der geest2005,riner 2007,ishii 2008).
Ishii is not very spectacular like Inoue(mister judo) ,but he does classic judo, he stands up hidarishisentai,is a really warrior, good in ne waza, young and perfectible. His uchi mata against bianchessi was really big judo.

IF YOU CAN’T STRUGGLE AND FIGHT FOR A FULL 25 SECONDS WHILE BEING HELD DOWN IN OSAEKOMI…YOU ARE NOT A CHAMPION !!! HE GAVE UP RIGHT AWAY…A REAL FIGHTER WOULD MAKE THE OTHER JUDOKA EARN THE WIN !!! I TELL MY KIDS THAT I EXPECT THEM TO NEVER GIVE UP !!! TMENOV QUIT !!! HE MOST LIKELY WOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN OUT…BUT YOU HAVE TO TRY !!! WHERE IS HIS ” FIGHTING SPIRIT”?

Yeah – you’re right, john… Pff, what does Tmenov know about being a champion – what a loser!! Thankfully we have people like you to explain to us how “real” champions should or should not behave.
