Risky judo from Amel Mekic… The American nearly got it…
No way.. The American dropped like a bag of potatoes, and did nothing remotely looking like initiating a throw.. Imho excellent sutemi waza by Mekic!
svaka cast mekicu
He’s the man! :)

Risky judo?!
O please…
It’s hard to accept the truth, isn’t it?
:))
Risky judo?!
O please, …
It’s hard to accept the truth, isn’t it ?
the was jus lik an ol mule..
Saying “risky judo” was no criticism… That’s a quality in fact… I ain’t denying Amel Mekic the victory, it’s clean and clear.
Just wanted to highlight that the way he engaged the throw was kinda risky.. A more skillful judoka than Adler could have counter-attacked…
Svaka chast, pozdrav iz Srbije!
jako lepo bacanje,svaka cast!
Too bad Volmar didn’t have the officials from the US trials here they would have given HIM the ippon the in the same way that way they stole the victory from Brian Picklo who also landed on his back while initiating a throw against Volmar. How ironic that Volmar lost this way. Picklo should have been representing the US in China.
Look at the US coach calling for an ippon … it’s really embarrassing when our coaches, athletes and officials don’t know how an ippon is scored. Check out Ronda Rousey video, she responded like she got the ippon when in fact she was the one being ipponed. Or is this a new tactic, act like you got the ippon so the officials will be faked out and give it to you, that’s what Volmer did at the US trials.
Bravo Amele! Bravo majstore!
Momci poput tebe trebaju i moraju biti uzori (role-modeli) nasoj omladini, narocito muskoj!, a ne kriminalni tipovi koji zbog svoje neprilagodjenosti respekt traze nasiljem, vatrenim oruzjem i siledzijstvom! Ti si sjajan primjer da moze i drugacije!
Svaka cast jos jednom,
i sretan ti povratak u BiH!
A sto ga baci dobro……..bravo Mekicu
I didn’t see what Volmar did in the US qualifications, but here he did in my opinion deserve the ippon. Yes Mekic did initiate the attack, but it was a clear counter by Volmar grapping Mekic’s left leg and Mekic dropping straight on his back. Volmar was robbed here.
Simon..
You can’t be serious? Where the hell do you see the counter starting then? The guy just fell over and grabbed the leg in a reflex..
Hahaha.. Sure Simon, he countered the sutemi brilliantly by tumbling over!!
That was a perfect variation of obi tori ashi dori. Score for the person being thrown is only possible if they do not leave the ground before the opponent touches his back. In this case Volmar clearly leaves the ground before Mekic hits. Case closed. If Mekic had hit before Volmar’s feet left the ground then there might be some question of control. But Mekic wanted to make it unquestionable and has with the Georgian lift prior to the sacrifice.
“Or is this a new tactic, act like you got the ippon so the officials will be faked out and give it to you”
Hasn’t that always been a tactic in Judo? And sometimes it works! :-)
Great victory. Goooo, BOSNIA
Šampione čestitamo
If this was not american mekic would not throw him
only american can be thrown like this
I’m beginning to think that american don’t know when is really ippon…how could the U.S.A.coach think that Volmar scored ippon?and Ronda Rousey against Bosh?I wish to U.S.A. to find again someone like jimmy Pedro.I think he knows when is ippon:-)
Grabbing the leg by the US is not just a reaction but a means to counter the attack as a person holding the leg is considered to be demonstrating better control.
In this case the US doesn’t nullify the initial attack beyond grabbing the leg so you couldnt give him ippon but possibly waza ari as Mekic goes straight onto his back and hard – not with a smooth motion that would demonstrate better control.
For the ref a yuko or waza ari either way is plausable, but probably only yuko if given to Mekic as US falls on his side – technically not allowed to be waza ari
To me it is clear that Medic starts a sutemi, and Volmar couldnt stop it. His grabbing of the leg had no effect whatsoever on the movement of Medic, and doesnt even come close to countering the sutemi.
Without a doubt a point for Medic (waza-ari or yuko, doesnt matter as he continues nicely with osae komi.
AMEL DOMINATED HIM !!!
anyone who thinks the american is in control at any point is clearly a referee in the US judo! they live in a cave!
:) ali je zaronio brate…… pozdrav i samonastavi
Another pitiful performance by an American heavyweight Judoka. A guy like Adler is likely used to shoving people around with zero technique. That may work in the United States with the recreational players that he fights but not at this level. The kind of guy where if you were to ask him to show you some Judo technique he’d just flex his muscles.
Where was the grip fighting? As soon as Mekic took his grip at 0:03 the match was lost. He looked like a white belt out there, especially losing to kuzure kesa gatame.
BB — U are a self hater… From the US but to poor to make the trip to beijing.
the fight was only a few seconds of the entire fight…
i bet you – got pushed around by Adler… is that why you are hating…
are you a has been or a never wuz… Judoka…
I have seen you around on the blogs… it is easy to hide behind initals… and write your nasty comments… I do not know Melvic but I do know Adler…
He is a FINE HUMAN BEING… KNOWN AROUND THE WORLD IN JUDO…
FIGHTING INTERNATIONAL FOR MORE THAN 13YRS…
WHO ARE YOU…
To DAN and all of the PICKLO fans…
Please give up the dream… When has Brian Picklo ever competed or earned a medal outside the United States…
I have seen him for the last 8 yrs… He is lucky Adler’s knee was not 100%…
It is nice that you love him but hold the applause until he earns a name outside the US… Maybe even a B level first before you say he earned an olympic showing… Adler can lose it… because he earned it year after year.. Not by paying Rhadi $$$$ to train for 1 month… If he got robbed than ask Rhadi for your money back….
Gimme a break…!
My criticism of Adler’s performance has nothing to do with Adler the man, Wisdom. Where did I criticize him as a person? What does my income or financial status have anything to do with the discussion? Why criticize writing under initials when you are writing under the nome de plume of “Wisdom”?
What is nasty about my comments? They are truthful in regards to American Judo on the International scene. What do you want me to type “Attaboy! Great job! USA! USA! USA!”???
Sure, that video doesn’t show the entire match but what it shows reflects on how the rest of the match likely went. I mean, look how he lost that match on kesa gatame! There are some BJJ white belts out there that can get out of that holddown and no, I’m not some BJJ’er.
In all fairness my criticism has very little to do with the athletes themselves and more to do with USA Judo as a whole. I actually don’t blame Adler for his loss. I am more apt to blame USA Judo for their inability to properly coach and prepare the players that they have. That is where my comment of flexing muscles to demonstrate technique comes from as I have watched him before. That garbage works in the United States but not at the International level. Truly successful American judoists that have won and medaled internationally (Jimmy Pedro, Mike Swain, Annmaria DeMars, Ronda Rousey, Jason Morris, and very few others) have been successful but not because USA Judo had a hand in it.
USA Judo should take a look at how USA Gymnastics and USA Swimming grooms their athletes. USA Judo is a failure compared to these other programs.
Svaka cast Amele…….
The Bosnian TERMINATOR……..Mekic Amel
BRAVO MAJSTORE¨!!!!!svaka cast..

BB ARE YOU HERE TO HELP OR POINT OUT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE CAN ALREADY SEE…
DO YOU HAVE $$$ OR SUGGESTIONS TO HELP MAKE THE US PROGRAM BETTER.. OR DO YOU JUST QUARTER BACK THE PLAYS
