the ‘USA Girl’ is World silver medalist Ronda Rousey.

Bosch obviously scouted her well. There’s always 2012.

The USA have a long way to go if they are ever to be world class.

Rhonda tried getting fancy and got caught with a great counter.

How could she possibly think that was her score?
    Lose last-minute weight much?

I can’t believe Ronda didn’t know the ippon was against her. She fell straight on her back and had a look at her opponent (1:40) on top of her! In my opinion she was in denial – I wish she should have accepted defeat right away and saluted her opponent.

Ronda is a great judoka… She won the bronze medal. I think she has what it takes to be the first in her category.
It’s a pity she didn’t succeed with this technique.

“The USA have a long way to go if they are ever to be world class.” Ivan, you’re saying that in response to a video clip of a young woman who was a silver medalist in the last world championships, and whose mother was a world champion herself. Sounds pretty “world class” to me…

And she goes on to be the first American female to win an olympic medal by winning the bronze.

By the way Ivan those that can go to the Olympics those that can’t make snide comments over the internet

Jason M Struck put it perfectly! Edith Bosch and her team did a great job scouting on Ronda. I thought Ronda did exceptionally well but it looked like she knew this was coming. Edith is no slouch by any stretch of the imagination.

    From Rousey’s (really great) blog:

I came into a sode and rolled through and they called ippon. I didn’t really know what happened so i was like “That was ippon? okay!” then they gave it to her and i REALLY had no clue what just happened. I looked at the replay later and it was actually a pretty nice throw for her, but at the time I was like “Huh?! Who put the where in the what now?!”

Maybe it was too fast that Rousey didnt realize that it was an ippon. She got a bronze anyway.

    Ronda stomped her at World’s.

Bosch was defensive and weak, and she lost to another Sode type of thing that turned into something like kata guruma.

She learned. She’s a good ‘points’ player, and that wins matches.
