I’m not saying Ono is no good. Obviously he’s a Japanese Olympian! BUT in this match – look at the score board (not to mention the superior newaza of Camilo) 1-2-0 to 0-0-0. Zero, nada, goose egg. Against the Brazilian judoka, in this match, Ono got owned. Let’s face it.

Camilo tiago displays amazing judo here.. quick quick technical stuff. The guy counters stuff really well, really quick and the first technique where he scores a wazari against the Japanese is really intersting technique … it seems like a variation but it was so well done and so quick that I had to rewind it a couple of times… anyways.. Brazilian judo is a alive and well.. let’s give credit where it is due.

The way he fights is really interesting too like Blanka from street fighter.. pretty much based on BJJ…good stuff though.. really really good fight!

Maybe I am going blind, or just getting old, but just what was so brilliant about this fight? It was scrappy. the usual grip-fighting, mauling, defensive stuff that we have come to expect in top level judo these days. Where, oh where are the beautiful.swooping , technically briliant attacks ?
The higher the level, the more defensive and negative it becomes.
